The MJDL is started with Premier and 1st divisions for boys and girls (U10 to U18). 370 teams take part in the MJDL. 79 teams also take part in the Regional divisions
The ERSL introduce the East Region Cup, a single game elimination competition that is played throughout the season.
Carleton Place Soccer Club host the first East Region Cup Finals with 14 clubs represented in the cup final games played at Beckwith Park. Ottawa South United and Gloucester Hornets are the big winners with 4 cup wins each.
St Anthony's win the inaugural U21 Ontario Cup
2003
In May the EODSA clubs vote to start a multi jurisdictional district league with the SOSA clubs. As a result the ERSL announce plans to start a multi jurisdictional district league in 2004.
The SOSA District request that the ERSL operate their District League. 50 SOSA teams take part.
The Regional League expands to 79 teams.
8 men's teams and 4 women's take part in the inaugural Under 21 Regional Divisions. Capital United win the men's division with Kanata winning the women's title
2002
The ERSL is formed at a meeting at the Nepean Hotspurs Soccer Club on February 10th.
45 teams take part in the inaugural season with boys and girls divisions from U13 to U18. 43 of the teams are from the EODSA District with two Cataraqui Clippers teams from the SOSA District.
At the end of the season 4 teams accept promotion to the OYSL
Nepean Hotspurs U15 Girls become the first and so far only Regional Division team to have a perfect record (17-0-0).
In November SOSA clubs vote to start a multi jurisdictional district league (MJDL) with the EODSA district
The ERSL receive permission to start a Under 21 mens and women's Regional division in 2003.
